The tree was given to the city of Ljubljana by the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Ljubljana. The inauguration was opened by the mayor of the city of Ljubljana Mr. Zoran Janković that together with the Ambassador of the Czech Repulbic in Ljubljana H.E. Věra Zemanová lit the tree in a symbolic way. Hundreds of people from Ljubljana participated at this act. H.E. Věra Zemanová in her short speech informed that the gift of the Christmas tree to Ljubljana and Slovenia is an expression of solidarity and friendship between the two countries and wished Merry Christmas to all the participants. The Czech Christmas tree decorated Lubljana till the beginning of January 2016.
