After the Covid outbreak, we had again the opportunity to celebrate the Czech National Day with the participation of the Honor Guard of the Czech Armed Forces.

On the October, 27 Embassy of the Czech Republic in Ljubljana organized the reception in the occasion of the celebration of the Czech National Day, which was held at the Lapidarium of Ljubljana Castle.
Celebration started with the Ceremonial of bringing the flag of the Czech Republic by the Honor Guard of the Czech Armed Forces. This ceremonial was followed by the National Anthems of the EU, Slovenian Republic and the Czech Republic, which were performed by Military Band Olomouc.
Among the guests were members of Slovenian Government, members of Slovenian Parliament, Army Officers, Policemen and Firefighters, members of Diplomatic Corps, businessmen, Czech Compatriots and others.
Ambassador of the Czech Republic in Slovenia Mr. Juraj Chmiel delivered his speech, in which he mentioned, that its first reception in the occasion of the National Day after 2 years, since 2019. Moreover this year we are celebrating 30 years of the establishment of the diplomatic relations between Czechia and Slovenia and Czech Republic is having a Presidency in the EU Council.
In the Framework of the Czech Presidency Mr. Ambassador emphasized, that the whole Europe is in the very difficult situation, when we are facing the Russian military aggression towards Ukraine. Nevertheless we need to stay united and not legitimized this way of act. The Czech history teaches us that appeasement is not a wise choice.
Mr. Ambassador also summarized activities of the Embassy in the framework of the Presidency. From the meetings of the EU States Ambassadors in the Slovenian Regions of Krško (in the Power Plant) and Murska Sobota (in the Expanno Pavilion) to all the cultural events including the Opening of the Exhibition “Czech Footprints in Slovenia”. This Exhibition presents the Czech personalities who have contributed to the Slovenian society. All the guests had the possibility to view the exhibition in front of the entrance to the Lapidarium.
Ambassador Chmiel informed about the presence of the Czech Military Officer in NATO Mountain Warfare Center of Excellence. He also underlined the extraordinary bilateral relations between Czech Republic and Slovenia. Then he thanked to all sponsors: Arex, Litostroj Power, Radenska, Škoda Auto and Budweiser Budvar. So the guests had the opportunity to drink Czech Draft Beer – Budvar, Mineral Water – Radenska and to overview military supplements of Arex Company and model of Ressels Turbine from the Litostroj Company.
After Ambassador´s speech, the programme was supplemented with a performance of „Vach´s Choir of Moravian Teachers“, who sang Czech and Slovenian folk songs. The closing time of the event was followed with the music performed by Military Band Olomouc.
All the guest again very much appreciated attendance of the Honor Guard of the Czech Armed Forces and Military Band Olomouc, with whom Ambassador Chmiel Chmiel use to cooperate in occassions of the celebrations of National Day and Czech Armed Forces Day. Performance of “Vach´s Choir of Moravian Teachers” also achieved a great success. This choir together with the choir “carpe Diem” performed in the following days in Šmartno pri Litiji and Nova Gorica.
