Czech Ambassador Juraj Chmiel received a recognition from Mr. Alojz Kovšca, President of the National Assembly of Slovenia

On the occasion of the meeting, which was held on November, 30, Ambassador of the Czech Republic Mr. Juraj Chmiel received from the President of the National Assembly an award for developing the relationships with Slovenia and the Slovenian National Assembly.
 

On the proposal of the President Kovšca granting the award was decided at the meeting of the National Assembly on October 19, 2022. The Ambassadors of Poland, Germany, Great Britain and Ukraine were also nominated.

At the ceremony was also present from the Slovenian side Mr. Bojan Kekec, Chairman of the Commission for International Relations and European Affairs, and on behalf of the Czech side there were Mr. Jan Beneš, Deputy Head of Mission,and Veronika Bělecká, Attaché.

Ambassador Chmiel received the recognition for his professional approach in deepening bilateral relations, which are at a very high and friendly level, between the Czech and Slovenian Republic. Both countries share common values, and on the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries, A. Kovšca decided to take this step to appreciate the work of J. Chmiel in Slovenia.

Among other things, President of the National Assembly highlighted the approach of Czech Ambassador in the cultural field. He praised the exhibition "Jože Plečnik and Prague", which was created in cooperation with the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Ljubljana, the Prague Castle Administration and the Office of the President of the Czech Republic. Exhibition was also on view in the foyer of the National Assembly building from 5 October 2022. Thanks to which the deputies were able to pay tribute to the 150th anniversary of the birth of the Slovenian architect Jož Plečnik and his works. At the same time, he thanked the Ambassador  for the contribution to the deepening of cooperation and active dialogue between the Slovenian National Assembly and the Senate of the Czech Republic.

On Friday, December 9, 2022, Alojz Kovšca will attend the symbolic breakfast organized by the Embassy at Václav Havel's bench on the occasion of International Human Rights Day as a guest of honor.
