Meeting of the Ambassador Věra Zemanová with the President of the National Council in Slovenia Alojz Kovšca

On 9 January 2019 the Ambassador of the Czech Republic Věra Zemanová paid a visit to the President of the National Council in Slovenia Alojz Kovšca. The National Council is similar to the Czech Senate. The representatives discussed the cooperation of Slovenia with the Czech Republic and other members of the Visegrad Group.

At the opening of the meeting the Ambassador V. Zemanová handed over the letter of the President of the Senate of the Czech Republic J. Kubera to A. Kovšca with many thanks for his congratulation on being elected as President. Furthermore, she reminded the invitation by the President of the Senate to visit the Czech Republic, which the President A. Kovšca accepted. The visit is expected to be realised during the year 2019. The President A. Kovšca emphasised the good relationships between Slovenia and the Czech Republic and supported further deepening of the cooperation of Slovenia with the states of the Visegrad Group. He stated that the cooperation of the “new” member states of the EU is necessary due to a variety of common interests. At the end of the meeting the Ambassador V. Zemanová appreciated the interest of A. Kovšca in enhancing the existing parliamentary cooperation between the Czech Republic and Slovenia.
