Meeting of the Ambassadors of the V4 States with the President of Slovenia Borut Pahor

On the occasion of the Czech Presidency of the Višsegrad Group, the President of the Republic of Slovenia Borut Pahor hosted the Ambassadors of the V4 States. Among other things, the transformation of Europe after the coronavirus epidemic, the future of the regions of Central Europe and the Western Balkans and the possibilities and platforms of mutual cooperation were discussed.
 

The President of Slovenia, Borut Pahor, hosted on the occasion of the Czech Presidency of the Visegrad Group the Ambassadors of the V4 countries - Juraj Chmiel (CZ), Edit Szilagyine Batorfi (HU), Eva Ponomarenková (SK) and Krzysztof Olendzki (PL). In the introduction, the Ambassador Juraj Chmiel presented the priorities of the Czech Presidency "V4 for a Reasonable Europe" and pointed out a number of shared topics and possibilities as well as platforms for cooperation between countries in Central Europe. Each of the ambassadors summarized the findings of their countries in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic and appreciated the cooperation between the European states.

President Borut Pahor emphasized that he is a politician who has always supported the idea of ​​a united Europe and at the same time Slovenia's cooperation with the Visegrad Group. The V4 countries and Slovenia share a lot of historical experience and have a number of common political and economic interests. He also pointed out to the successes that the countries of Central Europe have achieved since the fall of communist regimes. Cooperation within other platforms such as the Three Seas Initiative, the Slavkov Declaration or the Central European Initiative was also discussed. President Borut Pahor expressed interest in overcoming the artificial division of Europe into Western and Eastern. The coronavirus pandemic has highlighted the need for co-operation across the Europe. He also recalled the region of the Western Balkans and called for continued interest in its development and rapprochement with the European Union. Concluding the meeting, he highlighted the friendly relations between him and the presidents of the V4 countries, which reflect the friendly relations between Slovenia and the these countries.
