The Ambassador of the Czech Republic H.E. Juraj Chmiel opened the event and introduced the personality of Mr Aleksander Čeferin, including his passion for the Sahara desert, which he had crossed four times by car and once by motorcycle, as well as the contemporary challenges of international football in the eve of the FIFA World Cup.

The EU Ambassadors discussed with Mr Čeferin a large variety of topics about international football and its connection to politics and society. Aleksander Čeferin has explained the circumstances of excluding Russia from the cups in the context of the aggression towards Ukraine. He highlighted the fact that the reasons are mainly humanitarian, as Russia is massively violating human rights. The President of UEFA also spoke about the responsibility of international football associations towards society, when the final match of the FIFA World Cup is expected to have 3 billion spectators. In such a case it plays a crucial what message is delivered to the world. Aleksander Čeferin also pointed out that UEFA is very well collaborating the European Commission and supports its vital projects including the green transition and combat against climate change.
 

Women's football was also a topic of discussion as a fast-growing phenomenon. Aleksander Čeferin said that the women's football is gaining more and more attention of the fans, selling out the stadiums. At the same time, the atmosphere at the matches is often different, the families and children are present and no violence or riots occur. The attention is centered on the sport itself. Aleksander Čeferin therefore understands the money spent on women's football as a good investment for the future. The debate did not omit some of the more controversial topics such as the transparency of the referees and players as well as inappropriate behaviour of some fans. Aleksander Čeferin pointed out that the professionalism of the referees at the European and international levels is very high. UEFA also adopted a zero-tolerance policy towards racism, homophobia or violence. 

Aleksander Čeferin introduced the present Ambassadors to the charity activities of UEFA, which is involved in many projects supporting football talents in geographically or socially disadvantaged areas. UEFA helps people in refugee camps and plays a crucial role in many charity projects all around Europe. The Ambassadors also discussed the UEFA's budget and Aleksander Čeferin reminded in this regard the fact that UEFA is proud that 97% of its budget is returning back to football and unlike many other organizations, its own expenses are very low.
