The Czech Republic Contributed to Reduce the Impact of the Civil War in Bosnia and Herzegovina

On December 12, 2016,  the Ambassador of the Czech Republic to the Republic of Slovenia,  H. E. Mrs. Věra Zemanová together with the Director of the ITF Enhancing Human Securtiy, Mr. Damjan Bergant signed a Memorandum of Understaning that adjusts the terms of the use of Czech voluntary contribution to ITF of the amount of 250,000 CZK.
 

The Czech contribution will be used to clear mine-contamination and technical exploration in two areas of the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina expanding on 7,888m². The works are aimed at clearing mine-contamination close to the Municipality of Šekovići. Near the Municipality of Kalesija, the financial means will be spent on technical exploration of the area before the beginning of the clearing mine-contamination itself.

The Czech Republic is one of the countries that financially contributes during a long term since 1998 to support the activities of this humanitarian organization. By doing this, the Czech Republic also helps to cope with the impact of the civil war on the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Apart from the Czech Republic as a donor of the ITF there are other countries e.g. USA, Canada, Japan, Germany, Ireland, Slovenia, South Korea and some other international non-governmental organizations.

The International Fund for demining – ITF Enhancing Human Sercurity is a humanitarian, non-profit organization based in Slovenia. Its activity is primarily aimed at the territory of the Western Balkans but it also helps in other crises areas of contemporary world.
