The EU Ambassadors Have Discovered the Pomurje Region from the Balloon

The Ambassador of the Czech Republic H. E. Juraj Chmiel organized within the Czech Presidency in the Council of the EU the meeting of the EU Ambassadors in the EXPANO Pavilion located in Murska Sobota, accompanied by a discussion with the Slovenian Minister for European Cohesion Policy Dr. Aleksander Jevšek and the Acting Mayor of Murska Sobota Mr. Zoran Hoblaj.
After the introductory speeches from Ambassador H. E. Juraj Chmiel and Acting Mayor of Murska Sobota Mr Zoran Hoblaj were the attending Ambassadors and members of the diplomatic corps acquainted with the project of EXPANO Pavilion, regional development of the Pomurje Region as well as with the governmental plans for joining the European cohesion projects by the Minister for European Cohesion Policy Dr. Aleksander Jevšek.
The former Mayor of Murska Sobota, which is the administrative centre of the Pomurje Region, Dr. Aleksander Jevšek has decided to bring the Pavilion from the Milan EXPO back to Slovenia and place it next to the Soboško Jezero focusing on economic, tourist and cultural development on the region.
Pavilion EXPANO with a unique innovative technology exhibition presents Pomurje as the region of tourism, nature, science, technology, local arts and craft and cultural heritage. The director of the EXPANO centre Mrs Helga Lukač, which has been in the project since its beginning, presented to the Ambassadors activities of the region within sustainable development, green technology or local traditions and customs.
The Ambassadors had the opportunity to learn about the region through the rich EXPANO interactive exhibition including the virtual flight with the balloon using modern technology of virtual reality. The meeting was concluded with the visit of a local producer of Pomurje Ham Kodila with the presentation of the process of preparation, maturing and smoking of the meat products.
