Exhibition "Robot.si: „The origins of industrial robotics in Slovenia "

On September 18, 2020, the exhibition "Robot.si: „The origins of industrial robotics in Slovenia” was opened at the Technical Museum of Slovenia in Bistra near Vrhnika.

The exhibition is dedicated to two important anniversaries related to robotics, the centenary of the first use of the word robot in the drama R. U. R. (Rossum's Universal Robots) by Czech author Karel Čapek and the 40th anniversary of the use of the first industrial robot in the country.

The tradition of robotics in Slovenia dates back to the late 1970s. The Technical Museum guards and preserves a unique collection of industrial robotics, which flourished in Slovenia especially in the 1980s. The exhibition will be on display until May 30, 2021 and presents the history of robots in Slovenia and in the world, their development and role in various industries and other fields.

The number of exhibited well-preserved original prototypes of robots and other related objects testifies of the rich knowledge and creativity of Slovenian experts.

An interesting fact is that the drama R. U. R. by Karel Čapek, which had its theatrical premiere on January 25, 1921 in Prague, was already staged in 1922 at the Slovenian National Theatre in Ljubljana.

The exhibition was sponsored and opened by the President of the Republic of Slovenia, Borut Pahor. The exhibition was also attended by the Ambassador of the Czech Republic in Ljubljana Juraj Chmiel.

All major Slovenian media informed about the opening of the exhibition.
