Juraj Chmiel, Ambassador of the Czech Republic, will present the political and historical background of Plečnik's work in the Czech Republic, focusing on the personality of the first Czechoslovak President Tomáš Garrigue Masaryk and his collaboration with architect Plečnik in the modernization of Prague Castle. The lecture will be in English. A screening of the film „Jože Plečnik at Prague Castle“(2000, directed by Judita Křížová) from the cycle Ten Centuries of Architecture (produced by Czech Television) will follow the lecture.

The event is organized in cooperation with the City Museum of Ljubljana, the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Ljubljana, the Department of Slavic Studies, Faculty of Arts, University of Ljubljana and The Center of the Architecture of Slovenia.
