Lecture of the Ambassador J. Chmiel at the University of Ljubljana and meeting with the Dean of the Faculty of Arts

Ambassador J. Chmiel lectured on modern Czech history at the Faculty of Arts of the University of Ljubljana on March 5, 2020. On this occasion, Ambassador Chmiel had the opportunity to meet the Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Roman Kuhar.

Ambassador J. Chmiel presented to the Slovenian students of the Czech studies and the Slovak studies the most important political and social milestones in Czechoslovakia in the period after 1945 until the democratic changes in 1989. Afterwards, he answered a number of questions from the audience regarding the political and social developments of the Czech Republic after the break-up of Czechoslovakia. Shortly before the lecture Ambassador Chmiel met with Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Roman Kuhar. The meeting was also attended by Deputy Head of the Department of Slavistics, Špela Sevšek Šramel, and Head of the Department of Czech Studies, Petra Stankovska.

Last year, the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Ljubljana was engaged in lecturing at the Faculty of Arts of the University of Ljubljana. Deputy Ambassador Jan Beneš gave a lecture about the history of the Czech state between the years 1918 and 1948. All lectures were very positively received by Slovenian students and evaluated as beneficial for their further study.
