On May 25, 2018, the Vernissage of the international exhibition entitled ″Faces of Expressionism″ took place in the Božidar Jakac Art Museum in Kostanjevica na Krki.

The exhibition was prepared in cooperation with the Czech museum Galerie Středočeského kraje (GASK) from Kutna Hora and will be open until September 20.
 

The opening of the international exhibition was held at the Božidar Jakac Art Museum situated on the premises of the former medieval monastery.  This exhibition of 180 pictures, drawings, graphic arts and sculptures by Slovenian, Czech and German Expressionists is a central event of the Summer Gallery program and features works of famous authors of German and Czech expressionism, such as Ernst Ludwig Kirchner, Emil Nolde, Karl Schmidt-Rottluff, Käthe Kollwitz, August Brömse, Emil Fila, Josef Čapek, Bohumil Kubišta, Otto Gutfreund and others, which will be placed side by side with works by Slovenian expressionist artists, such as Božidar Jakac, France Kralj, Tone Kralj, Veno Pilon, Fran Tratnik, Nande Vidmar, Drago Vidmar and others. It is the first attempt to include Slovenian expressionism into the Central European context.

The exhibition was officially opened by the Minister of Culture of the Republic of Slovenia, Anton Peršak, who congratulated the gallery on this significant success. The Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Slovenia, Věra Zemanová, stated in her festive speech that the exhibition contributed to the further development of the Czech-Slovenian relations in the field of culture and stressed that it was the first exhibition of works of Czech expressionists in the Slovenian environment to such an extent.

The opening of the exhibition, which was attended by approximately one hundred visitors, took place in the media's interest.
