Despite of the strict epidemiological measures, many important personalities from political, cultural and diplomatic circles in Slovenia attended the opening ceremony. Slovenian President B. Pahor formally inaugurated the exhibition. The Slovenian Minister of Culture Vasko Simoniti and representatives of the Embassy in Ljubljana also attended the event.

In his speech, President B. Pahor emphasized the friendship with the Czech President M. Zeman. Addressing Czech-Slovenian relations, he stated that these relations are strengthened by history, not only at the political level, but also in the field of trade and cultural cooperation. He described the exhibition “The Masterpieces of the Prague Castle Picture Gallery” as further proof of the excellent relations between Slovenes and Czechs.

At the opening ceremony, Ambassador J. Chmiel presented a greeting from President M. Zeman, in which he highlighted the rich cultural relations between the Czech Republic and Slovenia. In his speech, the Ambassador praised the active Czech-Slovenian cultural cooperation and informed about the upcoming exhibition “Jože Plečnik and Prague” being prepared by the Embassy of the Republic of Ljubljana in cooperation with the Office of the President of the Czech Republic and the Prague Castle Administration. The exhibition was widely promoted by the leading Slovenian media (e.g. POP TV, RTV SLO, STA and others).

The current exhibition follows the successful exhibition entitled “Impressionism from Dawn to Dusk: Slovenian Art 1870 – 1930”, which was presented in the Prague Castle Riding School in 2019.
