The Anton Sovre Award is annually awarded by the Slovenian Association of Literary Translators for a particularly successful translation of literary texts written in foreign languages. This year, this prestigious award went to the Slovenian translator Tatjana Jamnik, who has been translating from the Czech and Polish languages for a long time. The expert jury appreciated her translation of the novel about the life of the Czech photographer, painter and mystic František Drtikol by the young Czech writer Jan Němec. The talent of T. Jamnik was already recognized in 2009, when she received the Young Translator Award for the translation of Fuks's “The Corpse Burner”.

The Deputy Head of Mission Jan Beneš congratulated Tatjana Jamnik and thanked her for the translation work and for the support of Czech literature and Czech culture in Slovenia. He recalled that in today's digital age it is not easy to discover quality literary works that deserve translation into foreign languages. He emphasized and appreciated the efforts of translators and the merit of the translation craft, which is an important tool in the process of getting to know and bringing cultures together.

The Anton Sovre Award is named after the most prominent Slovenian translator of the ancient languages ​​and has been regularly awarded in Slovenia since 1963 - since the death of the translator. In the past, the Anton Sovre Award has already been awarded twice for translations of Czech literature. In 1970 Zdenka Jerman was awarded for the translation of the book “The Joke” by Milan Kundera, and in 2009 Nives Vidrih for the translation of the short story by Bohumil Hrabal “An Advertisement for the House I Don't Want to Live in Anymore”.
