The ceremony took place in the Great Hall of the Ministry of Education, Science and Sport of Slovenia in Ljubljana.

The Slovenian schools regularly take part in the fine arts competition held by the Lidice Gallery and the number of participants increases every year. In the 46th edition the unprecedented number of 73 Slovenian elementary schools and kindergartens with 844 of entries were registered. The prizes were awarded to 11 elementary schools and 23 students received the certificate of merits. The Sveti Jurij Elementary School in Rogašovec and the Elementary School in Malčnik were presented with the medals. Two other students, from the elementary school in Dutovlje and Maribor who participated individually, were also awarded the medals. The teachers and the students of the Sveti Jurij Elementary School in Rogašovec were awarded during the opening ceremony in May 2018 at the Lidice Gallery.

The awards ceremony was a great moment for the award-winning children and the satisfaction for their work. This year, the ceremony was attended by roughly 50 guests from Slovenia, including many school directors, teachers as well as family members of the young students. The award-winning drawings were displayed on the projection screen.
