The 47th International Children´s Exhibition of Fine Arts LIDICE: Prize Awards

In January 2020, Ambassador Juraj Chmiel visited five Slovenian schools and personally handed over the prizes awarded in the 47th International Children's Exhibition of Fine Arts LIDICE 2019. Slovenia is the sixth most successful country of the LIDICE 2019 exhibition out of 70 contesting countries.
 

In January 2020, Ambassador J. Chmiel, accompanied by cultural attaché Veronika Benešová, visited elementary schools in Dutovlje (OŠ Dutovlje), Gračišče (OŠ Istrskega Odreda), Črnomelj (OŠ Mirana Jarca), Velenje (OŠ Livada) and Prevalje (OŠ Franja Goloba) and handed over 11 honourable mentions and 2 medals awarded at the International Children´s Exhibition of Fine Arts LIDICE 2019.

Taj Kosmač from Dutovlje Elementary School received a medal for photographs of chemical experiment and Miran Jarec Elementary School from Črnomelj received a medal for a collection of graphics.

The award ceremony took place at the individual schools in the presence of representatives of the municipalities who attended the event upon the invitation of Ambassador J. Chmiel. The pupils themselves performed during the accompanying cultural program.

Ambassador Chmiel highly appreciated the interest of Slovenian schools in the International Children's Exhibition of Fine Arts LIDICE and invited them to attend the upcoming edition. During his visit to Dutovlje Elementary School on January 27th, he also commemorated the International Holocaust Remembrance Day, which is held on this day .

The laureates received a number of small gifts commemorating the Czech Republic. Thanks to the support of the Slovenian representation of ŠKODA they also received the ŠKODA car model.

In November, Ambassador J. Chmiel personally presented several awards at the Dr. Aleš Bebler - Primož Elementary school in Ankaran. In the coming weeks, he will visit four more schools to present the remaining awards.

In 2019, 10 Slovenian schools were awarded a prize. In total 31 awards were handed over, including four medals. That makes Slovenia one of the most successful country of the 47th International Children's Exhibition of Fine Arts LIDICE.

Slovenia has been participating successfully in the LIDICE competition for many years and achieves very good results.

 

Slovenian media SI24 and Naš čas  also informed about the LIDICE award in Velenje.
