CZEXPATS Interview: Míla Fürstová, fine artist

Around 100,000 people of Czech citizenship or origin currently lives in the United Kingdom. Among them, we can find many important personalities, but also individuals with unique personal stories. We decided to introduce you the most interesting of them in our project “CZEXPATS Interviews”, this time with fine artist Míla Fürstová.

How can a failure in Czechia lead to a success in the Great Britain? How was her cooperation with Coldplay? And how difficult is it to remove horror from Erben's “The Bouquet”? Find out all this and much more in our interview with Míla Fürstová.

Míla Fürstová is an award winning internationally exhibited fine artist, with works shown in countries such as the Great Britain, the USA, France and Czechia. Her works are part of important private and public collections, including that of Queen Elizabeth II. Coming from Pelhřimov in the Czechia, Míla gained an MA degree in Art, English Language and Psychology at the Charles University in Prague, whilst simultaneously studying for her BA degree in Fine Art Printmaking at the University of Gloucestershire, later obtaining also Masters degree at the Royal College of Art. She has subsequently lectured at Coventry University and The University of Gloucestershire, as well as at the Cheltenham Ladies' College. She became world famous for creating the album art for Coldplay's 6th album Ghost Stories in 2014 and covers for the NY Times No.1 Best Selling book series Mortal Instruments. Her artwork is also well-known from the label of one million of Mattoni water bottles and from the Czech TV series 'Vodník', which was awarded the most prestigious Czech film award 'Czech Lion'.
