Invitation to a talk with composer Julian Anderson- Prague, Panoramas and Bells: around and about my 2nd Symphony

On Firday August 5th, British composer Julian Anderson will explain the audience the Czech cultural influences on his new 2nd Symphony Prague Panoramas, inspired by Josef Sudek’s famous panoramic photographs of Prague.

The work, commissioned by the BBC, receives its first complete performance at the BBC Proms the same evening at 7:30pm.  The BBC Symphony is conducted by the Music Director of the Czech Philharmonic, Maestro Semyon Bychkov, in a program which also includes Martinu's Concerto for Two Pianos.

Julian Anderson

Julian Anderson belongs among the leading personalities of British contemporary music, he has held Composer in Residence positions with the City of Birmingham Symphony, Cleveland and London Philharmonic orchestras. Renowned as also as teacher, Anderson has held senior professorships at the Royal College of Music, London and at Harvard University, and is currently Professor of Composition and Composer in Residence at Guildhall School of Music & Drama.  He was made a CBE in the 2021 New Year’s Honours, and in May 2022 he was appointed President of the Music Council of the Fondation Prince Pierre, Monaco.
