Successful historic presentation „The Czech Connection“ at the Czech Embassy

On Thursday 23rd August 2019, the Embassy of the Czech Republic in London had the pleasure of hosting a historic presentation by Mr. Neil William Rees “The Czech Connection” about the Czechoslovak Government in Exile in London and Buckinghamshire during the Second World War.

Mr. Neil Rees explained the social history of some of the most prominent members of the Czechoslovak Government in Exile and how and where they lived and interacted with the British. The presentation was nicely illustrated with period photographs. Copies of Neil´s book “The Czech Connection” with even more information about the topic were be available for preview. The event was concluded with a drinks reception, a great opportunity for all the guests to directly interact with Neil and ask a great number of further questions about the fascinating topic.

Neil Rees is British and lives in Buckinghamshire with his family. In the early 1990s he worked in Plzen in Bohemia where he grew to love all things Czech.  He has been researching the British Czechoslovak connections, especially the stories of Tomáš Garrigue Masaryk and Edvard Beneš in Britain during both wars. In his spare time Neil researches local history stories.  The result is a book called "The Czech Connection". Neil has also written and contributed to a number of other local history books.
