Ambassador visited SSEES at the University College London

On 16 March 2017 Ambassador Libor Sečka visited the School of Slavonic and East European Studies (SSEES), which is a Department of the prestigious University College London.

Ambassador Sečka met with Professor Jan Kubik, Director of the School of Slavonic and East European Studies and Dr. Peter Zusi, specialising in Czech and Slovak literature. Topics discussed included the evaluation of students' interest in the study of Czech language and literature, the upcoming celebration of the centennial anniversary of the founding of Czechoslovakia and the fiftieth anniversary celebration of the events of the Prague Spring. They also touched upon study conditions at UCL after the UK leaves the European Union.

There is a bust of President Tomáš Garrigue Masaryk at the SSEES, which was unveiled on 19 October 2015, exactly one hundred years after the politician, philosopher and sociologist and future president Tomáš G. Masaryk gave a public lecture in London on “The problem of small nations in the European Crisis”. This event marked the foundation of the future SSEES.
