In the framework of Czech Embassy economic diplomacy projects, the Brazilian company Embraer, the third largest commercial aircraft manufacturer in the world, visited the Czech Republic. A total of 32 Czech manufacturers and suppliers of aviation services introduced to Embraer their production capabilities, some of the production plants, and discussed the supply options for Brazilian aerospace giant. Between February 12 - 14, 2019, Embraer, the Brazilian aircraft manufacturer and third largest producer of jet commercial aeroplanes visited the Czech Republic as part of the Czech Embassy’s economic diplomacy project. For Czech companies it was a great business opportunity to be able to offer their products directly to the buyers from this company. The first day in Prague was given over to a seminar in the Ministry of Industry and Trade where a full hall of participants listened to introductory presentations about the Czech Republic's aerospace sector, with its strategic direction set out by Deputy Ministers of Industry and Trade Vladimír Bärtl and Petr Očko and Pavel Beran, Deputy Minister of Defence. Other representatives from the The Association of the Czech AeroSpace Industry and the Defense and Security Industry Association of the Czech Republic also spoke.

Embraer's representatives from its European Branch and the Brazilian headquarters, led by Mr. Jorge Ramos, President for EMEA Markets, presented the company's production program, plans for the future, and especially the ways and mechanisms for involving foreign companies in the Embraer supply chain. The afternoon was then devoted to bilateral negotiations between Embraer and individual Czech and Moravian aircraft component manufacturers, and with universities.

On the days 13-14 February 2019 the Embraer representatives, accompanied by the economic diplomat of the Czech Embassy in London, representatives of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, CzechTrade and, CzehInvest, gradually visited different thematic groups of organisations. Their journey in the Czech Republic took them through 10 cities from Dobříš (near Prague), to Mladá Boleslav, Pardubice, Brno, Zlín and, Kunovice, where they personally got acquainted with production in close to 20 organisations of the aerospace and defence industry.

The Economic Diplomacy Project was prepared by the Czech Embassy in London in cooperation with the Czech Ministry of Industry and Trade, CzechTrade and, CzechInvest. The aim of the project was to support the Czech aviation sector and to connect Czech suppliers with high added value to the end customer.

Embraer, after only 50 years in existence, is a strong player in the field of medium-sized transport aircraft, with significant activities in the related sectors of satellite, communications and radar technologies. In 2017, the new and largest aircraft from Embraer's production, the military transport KC390, was certified. Embraer employs 19,000 people worldwide and has made thousands of aircraft, operating in 60 countries. At the end of 2018, Embraer entered into a strategic partnership with Boeing, where Boeing acquired an 80% share in a new joint venture for the production and operation of Embraer commercial aircraft. Many Czech companies are already among Embraer's suppliers and its new production programs offer opportunities for proven and innovative Czech companies.
