Czech stand at charity Christmas markets in London

The Embassy of the Czech Republic took part in two charitable Christmas markets in London offering both traditional and innovative products from Czech companies and also Czech Christmas pastries.

The first Christmas market on 27 November in the iconic Guildhall in the City of London was in aid of the British Red Cross. The proceeds of the event, organised since 1961, were dedicated to support the work of the Red Cross. The market was opened by Councillor of the City of London, Mr. Michael Mainelli, and his wife. It is understood that 3 thousand people attended this year.

The second market that the Embassy had a stall at was the Christmas fair organised by the Monocle magazine in Marylebone on 1 and 2 December. The stalls were selling items such as Christmas decorations from Jablonec, Czech Republic, mulled wine from Austria, Irish mulled cider, as well as many other goods and foods. To add to the Christmas atmosphere, Santa Claus from Finland arrived along with his team of reindeer.

Czech products at the fair included: Be:wooden (wooden bow ties and other fashion accessories from natural materials), B26 Glass (crystal glass), Clartés (hand made glass and lamps), Glassor (handmade glass Christmas decorations), Holík (gloves combining traditional crafts with the latest technologies), Gentlemen´s Sock Club of Ponožkovice (unique colourful socks), Kutulu (traditional wooden toys in a modern sense) and Tonak (traditional manufacturer of high quality hats).
