Visa over 90 days

Foreigners who intend to stay in the Czechia for more than three months should apply for a long-stay visa.

An application for a long-term visa for over 90 days can be filed at a Czech Embassy abroad. You are obliged to file the application only at the Czech Embassy in the state of which you are a citizen or which issued your current travel document or in the state in which you have a long-term or permanent residence permit. You do not have to meet these conditions if you are a citizen of a state presented in the list of countries whose nationals are entitled to file an application for a long-term visa at any Czech Embassy.

 

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

·         Long term visas are only issued by Czech Embassies and Consulates General located outside of the territory of the Czech Republic, applicants must wait for their applications to be processed.

·         A long-term visa can only be issued by the same Embassy and Consulate General where the application was submitted.

·         You must be present in the UK at the end of the application process when the visa is issued into your passport.

·         We do not accept the passports mailed from Czechia and we do not ship them to Czechia.

·         It is always necessary to file the application for a long-term visa in person during a pre-scheduled appointment, which was booked accordingly.

 

PROCESSING TIME

·         All long-term visa and long-term residence applications are processed and decided by the Ministry of the Interior of the Czech Republic and the Embassy issues visa based on the decision and has no say or influence regarding processing time or decision-making.

·         Processing time is between 60 to 120 days from the date when complete application including biometrics is submitted at the Embassy.


FEES

·         Payments for the fees are accepted only in cash or by postal order in GBP.

·         Please check exact visa fees before coming to submit your application.

 

 

REQUIREMENTS

·         Please read carefully as incomplete applications will be immediately returned.

·         All documents must be presented in their original form. A set of original documents and set of good quality plain photocopies needs to be submitted.

·         No documents may be older than 180 days. (This does not apply to passports, residence cards, registrar certificates, education degree certificates)

·         Ministry of the Interior of the Czech Republic reserves the right to request additional documents or information, which is either not listed or listed as not required if it deems it necessary to make a decision on the visa application.

7.        a document similar to an extract from the Penal Register record, issued by the state of which you are a citizen, as well as the states in which, in the last 3 years, you have resided continuously for a period longer than 6 months, or a signed affidavit in the event that this state does not issue such a document (not required from a foreign national under 15 years).

8.        a proof of medical travel insurance (only required upon collection of the visa, length and type will be specified in the collection notice. Medical health insurance - you will be asked to submit health insurance upon collection of your visa. The type and length will be specified in the collection notice. Detailed information about medical health insurance can be found on the website of the Ministry of Interior as well as the website of the Pojišťovna VZP, a.s. (As of August 2nd, 2021 the Law Concerning the Residence of Foreign Nationals specifies a duty for foreign nationals entering the territory and who will be on it for more than 90 days to conclude travel medical insurance in the scope of comprehensive healthcare within 90 days from entry to the territory of the Czech Republic. For a period of five years from the day when the amendment to the law concerning the residence of foreign nationals comes into force (i.e., from August 2nd, 2021 to August 2nd, 2026), travel medical insurance in the scope of comprehensive healthcare as required by the Act on the Residence of Foreign Nationals may be concluded exclusively with Pojišťovna VZP, a. s.)

 

TRANSLATIONS AND VERIFICATION

All the submitted documents must be officially translated into the Czech language. When searching for a translation service always ask for a translation done by a Czech court-appointed translator who will verify translation by an official seal.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

1.        The application procedures are governed by the Act on the Residence of Foreign Nationals, the Administrative Procedure Code and other associated acts. 

2.        If the specified requirements have not been submitted with the application or it has other discrepancies, then during the proceedings, the MOI or the Czech Embassy can invite you for an interview, request that you complete the requirements for the application; likewise the Czech Embassy is entitled to take your fingerprints or take a pictorial record of you.

3.        An application for a long-term visa is considered inadmissible if:

·         not all of the requirements specified by law were submitted with it,

·         the foreign national refuses to have his/her fingerprints or a pictorial record taken,

·         it was not filed on the prescribed form,

·         it was not filed at the pertinent Czech Embassy.

In such a case, the Czech Embassy returns the application form, all of the requirements submitted and the administrative fee to the foreign national who filed an inadmissible application, whilst informing him/her of the reasons for considering the application to be inadmissible.
