A dream came true. War hero general Boček flew Spitfire again

On 21-22 July 2016 a set of Battle of Britain commemoration events took place at the Biggin Hill Airport and the London RAF Club. The organisers* and participants commemorated the heroism of Czechoslovak fighter pilots and the other allied airmen during the World War 2.

The combat activities of our war pilots were epitomized by spitfire flight piloted by MG Emil Boček, 93 years old veteran, who flew a similar type of Spitfire during his wartime service with 310th Czechoslovak Fighter Squadron in Great Britain.

The flight was preceded by holly mass celebrated by His Eminency Cardinal Dominik Duka, Archbishop of Prague in St. George Chapel, to honour the Czechoslovak and allied airmen who sacrificed their lives in the Battle of Britain. The Czech delegation held a meeting with Chief of the Air Staff RAF, Sir Stephen Hillier, and laid wreaths by the Battle of Britain Memorial in London and by the Polish War Memorial at Northolt.

On behalf of the Czech Embassy H.E. Ambassador Libor Sečka and Col Jiří Svatoš, Defence Attaché, attended the event.
