Ambassador Chatardová unveiled a memorial plaque at Linden of Liberty at the former residence of president Beneš

Ambassador Marie Chatardová, accompanied by Countess Howe,  Her Majesty’s Lord Lieutenant of Buckinghamshire, on Saturday 30th October solemnly unveiled a wooden plaque at the Linden of Liberty in front of the former residence of President Edvard Beneš called "the Abbey" in Aston Abbotts.

The linden seedling was planted by President Edvard Beneš on October 31, 1943 on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the founding of Czechoslovakia. In addition to the current and the original owners of the Beneš's residence, local citizens, our military attachés, representatives of military associations maintaining the legacy of Czechoslovak soldiers in Britain and their descendants and two local witnesses who went to school in Wingrave with Czechoslovak children during the war took part in the ceremony.
