Ambassador´s meeting with a great-granddaughter of Alois Rašín

On 22 October 2018, Ambassador Libor Sečka met with Mrs. Ana Forteza Rasin, a great-granddaughter of the first Czechoslovak Minister of Finance, Alois Rašín.

Mrs. Rasin is a granddaughter of Rašín's son Miroslav. She was born in Uruguay and has lived in Great Britain for many years. She contacted the Embassy of the Czech Republic in London for the first time ever after reading about the recent meeting of the Ambassador with the great-granddaughter of President Tomáš Garrigue Masaryk on our website.

Ambassador Sečka was very pleased to meet with a relative of one of the "Men of the 28th October". They spoke about the tremendous credit of Alois Rašín, politician, economist and, enthusiastic and leading participant in the foundation of the independent Czechoslovak state on 28 October 1918.

The Ambassador outlined the activities of the Embassy of the Czech Republic in London in this historically significant year. Mrs. Rasin thanked him for his sincere reception and expressed the wish to establish closer contacts with the Czech-Slovak community in the UK, which the Embassy will be happy to assist with.
