The Embassy of the Czech Republic in London was represented at the ceremony by the Deputy Ambassador Jan Brunner and the Defence Attaché Colonel Jiří Niedoba. Jan Brunner read a letter of condolence from the President of the Czech Republic, Miloš Zeman, addressed to the widow Rosemary Pemberton and Col. Niedoba handed over the condolences from the Czech Minister of Defence Karla Šlechtová. The ceremony was also attended by a military delegation from the Czech Republic headed by Major General Jaromír Šebesta, Commander of the Air Force of the Czech Republic, who in his speech highlighted patriotism and personal courage of Colonel Zbyšek Nečas-Pemberton.

Colonel Zbyšek Nečas-Pemberton, born 6 March 1921,  served as a radar operator on Beaufighter and Mosquito night fighters during the Seccond World War and his bravery also contributed to  the fact, that the Czechoslovak night fighters within the 68 Night Fighter Squadron finished the war with twenty-one verified kills, three probable, and additionally, they damaged seven enemy planes. They also shot down three V-1 flying bombs.

In June 2017, Col. Nečas-Pemberton was awarded the Medal for Heroism ​by the President of the Czech Republic, Miloš Zeman.
