The event was attended by the Ambassadors of the Czech Republic and the Slovak Republic Libor Sečka and Lubomír Rehák who, in their speeches, stressed the importance of Czechoslovak resistance during WW2 and paid tribute to all those who contributed to the defeat of Nazism. The most important guests were the survivors of the WW2 air battles who were members of the 311th Czechoslovak Bomber Squadron, Major General Ivan Otto Schwarz, Ret. and Colonel Arnošt Polák, Ret. who still represent a great example of the courage and persistence of the Czechoslovak wartime pilots. The memorial ceremony was also attended by relatives of the fallen and deceased veterans of the Second World War who are buried at the cemetery in Brookwood.
