Westminster Synagogue Scrolls Committee's commemorative service

Ambassador Marie Chatardová took part at annual commemorative service organized by Westminster Synagogue Scrolls Committee. The event, which took place on Sunday 27th November, was held to remember the lives lost from the towns of Hořovice, Horažďovice and Přeštice. These people were brutally murdered because of their Jewish origin.

During the service, Ariana Neumann delivered a speech about her recent book ´´When Time Stopped.´´ It discusses the secrets of her father´s past: his extraordinary escape from Nazi-occupied Prague, years spent hiding in plain sight in war-torn Berlin, the annihilation of dozens of family members in the Holocaust, and the courageous choice to build anew.

A short concert celebrating Czech Music was held after the talk. Performers included Theo Golden, Anita Datta and the Morello Quartet. Many students from within the community shared their reflections.

Ambassador Chatardová also met with Rabbi Thomas Salamon.
