Czech Day of Armed Forces

On Tuesday, June 28, the Embassy of the Czech Republic in London celebrated the traditional Day of the Armed Forces.
 

The event was opened by Ambassador Marie Chatardová, who used this opportunity to launch a new  project of the Embassy called "Children of Heroes", which aims to present the stories of children and families of Czechoslovak soldiers who fought in the United Kingdom during World War II via video reports.

The director of the National Museum of the Czech Republic, Mr. Michal Lukeš, subsequently opened a traveling exhibition “We Will Never Surrender!”, prepared by the museum together with the Military Historical Institute in Prague, commemorating the 80th anniversary of Operation Anthropoid and other significant events in 1942. The exhibition is currently hosted by the Embassy, from where it will subsequently move to other places within the United Kingdom.

The Chairman of the Security Committee of the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic, Mr. Pavel Žáček, who led a delegation of his committee in the United Kingdom, as well as the Military attaché of the Embassy, ​​Brigadier General Vratislav Beran, contributed with their speeches as well.  

The participants of the event had the exclusive opportunity not only to watch the first two parts of "Children of Heroes", but also a special short film of the National Museum for the exhibition “We Will Never Surrender !”.
