40 years after its completion, the complex of the then Czechoslovak Embassy in Notting Hill designed by architect Jan Bočan keeps provoking emotions. When deciding to present it with the RIBA Architecture Award in 1971, the jurors felt that “unlike so many examples of precast concrete buildings, this one is a refined example of its kind, skilfully detailed technically and aesthetically”. This ambitious exhibition featuring the work of Jan Bočan gives an insight into the way architects have been shaping our environment.
