Funeral of the British war veteran Francis James Auton MBE (13. 4. 1924 – 18. 1. 2020)

On 6th February 2020 there was the funeral of Jim Auton, MBE who was a big friend of Czech, Slovak and Polish World War II airmen. 

Mr Jim Auton, MBE joined the Royal Air Force at seventeen and later he took part in secret operations to drop supplies in Warsaw to support the uprising. After the war, he was a businessman and later he was a founder of the Warsaw Air Bridge Memorial erected in Newark on Trent in 1989. Mr Jim Auton, MBE during the last commemoration ceremony on 29th September 2019 captivated attention by his military cap of the Czech Air Force with rank of Colonel because he was an honorary Czechoslovak pilot and he held Czech, Slovak, Polish and British awards. Jim visited Prague after the Velvet Revolution and he was present a meeting of Czechoslovak airmen with president Vaclav Havel. Jim often attended receptions at the Embassy of the Czech Republic in London on the Armed Forces Day.
