Handover of state honour to Col. Zbyšek Nečas-Pemberton, Rtd.

On 27 June 2017, the Deputy Czech Ambassador, Jan Brunner, together with the Defence Attaché Col. Jiří Svatoš handed over the state honour from the President of the Czech Republic, Miloš Zeman, to Colonel Zbyšek Nečas-Pemberton, Rtd.
 

Col. Nečas-Pemberton, Rtd. received the Medal for Heroism from the President of the Czech Republic along with four other war veterans of Czechoslovak origin, on the occasion of Miloš Zeman's visit to London on 16 June 2017. He could not attend the ceremony for medical reasons.

Col. Nečas-Pemberton, Rtd. served as a radar operator with the Royal Air Force 68th Night Fighter Squadron during the Second World War. His bravery contributed to the fact, that the Czechoslovak night fighters at this Squadron finished the war with twenty-one verified kills, three probable, and additionally, they damaged seven enemy planes. They also shot down three V-1 flying bombs.
