National Day Reception 2019


On 27 September 2019, a National Day reception was held at the Embassy of the Czech Republics in London. This year, the important social event took place as part of the 30th anniversary celebrations of the Velvet Revolution.

The reception was opened with the Czech and British anthems, followed by speech from the Czech Ambassador, Libor Sečka who took advantage of this opportunity to hand over the Jan Masaryk Silver Medal to 13 selected personalities who have significantly contributed to the development of Czech-British relations. During the pleasant sunny afternoon, more than 300 guests listened to the Sam Glaser jazz quartet and enjoyed the traditional Czech dishes and drinks, including Pilsner Urquell and Moravian wines.

At the entrance to the Embassy, Škoda Auto ​​exhibited the renovated historic model of the 1940 Škoda Popular. And, two “Nervous Trees” by one of the most renowned Czech artist Krištof Kintera have been put on display during the event, too.

This spectacular event of Czechs and Slovaks living in the United Kingdom was the meeting point for the Embassy´s partners and friends in diplomacy, trade, culture, sports and associations.
