Official letter of condolence of President of the Czech Republic Miloš Zeman to Her Majest Queen Elizabeth II on the occasion of passing away of His Royal Highness the Duke of Edinburgh

On April 9th, President of the Czech Republic sent official letter of condolence to Her Majest The Queen Elizabeth II on the occasion of passing away of His Royal Highness the Duke of Edinburgh The Prince Philip.

Your Majesty,

It is with deep sorrow that I learned of passing away of His Royal Highness the Duke
of Edinburgh.

We recently remembered 25 years since your visit to Prague, when I had the
opportunity to meet you and your husband, Prince Philip, in person. It was then an
extraordinary honour for me. I have always regarded Prince Philip as a remarkable
personality who, with his charm, nobility and intellect, represented Great Britain in the
best sense of the word. His whole life is, in a way, an incredible chronicle of modern
history not only of Great Britain, but of the whole of Europe. I am convinced that his
exceptional legacy will continue to live in our hearts.

Your Majesty, allow me, on my own behalf and on behalf of the citizens of the Czech
Republic, to express my sincere condolences to you, the family and to all the British
citizens.

Sincerely

Miloš Zeman

President of the Czech Republic
