Remembrance day event at Brookwood Cemetery

On Sunday, October 30, representatives of the Embassy traditionally took part in the annual Remembrance Day commemoration event, organized by the MAFCV at the military cemetery in Brokwood.

The local military cemetery is the central cemetery for Czechoslovak soldiers who served in the United Kingdom during the Second World War.

The Embassy was represented by 3rd Secretary Michal Žižlavský and military attaché Brig. Gen. Vratislav Beran, who together laid a wreath at the Memorial to Czechoslovak army. In addition, the ambassador of the Slovak Republic, Mr. Róbert Ondrejcsák, the military attachés of other 7 allied countries including the United Kingdom, representatives of Woking, representatives of the Czech Scout from Hlinsko and other representatives of Czech associations in the United Kingdom also took part, including children from Czechoslovakian schools, who closed the ceremony with performance of Czech, Slovak and British anthems.
