Representatives of the Senat of the Czech Republic met Czech World War II veteran F/O Kurt Taussig

On 21st November 2018, a group of representatives of the Senate of the Czech Republic led by the vice-chairman of the Senate Mr. Jan Horník and represented by Ms. Zdeňka Hamousová, Ms. Jitka Seitlová and Mr. Miloš Vystrčil together with the representatives of the Embassy of the Czech Republic in London visited former member of the No 225 squadron RAF Mr. Kurt Taussig. As a Flying Officer Mr. Taussig served as a fighter pilot during the Second World War.  

Senator Jan Horník used this opportunity to hand over a Certificate of Honorary Citisenship of the city of Teplice, birthplace of Mr. Taussig and small gifts. Afterwards the group of Senators and Embassy representatives discussed his war service and post war career in the UK. 

Kurt Taussig was part of the kindertransport organised by Sir Nicholas Witton in 1939. In the United Kingdom he entered the RAF as a fighter pilot, training in Africa, Palestine and later operationally flying within 225 Sqn in Italy. He left the RAF service in 1947.
