The war veteran Colonel Zbyšek Nečas -Pemberton Ret. passed away

We regret to announce with deep sadness that on 15 March 2018 Colonel Zbyšek Nečas -Pemberton Ret. passed away in Horringer at the age of 97.

Colonel Zbyšek Nečas-Pemberton, born 6 March 1921,  served as a radar operator on Beaufighter and Mosquito night fighters during the Seccond World War and his bravery also contributed to  the fact, that the Czechoslovak night fighters within the 68 Night Fighter Squadron finished the war with twenty-one verified kills, three probable, and additionally, they damaged seven enemy planes. They also shot down three V-1 flying bombs.

In June 2017, Col. Nečas-Pemberton was awarded the Medal for Heroism ​by the President of the Czech Republic, Miloš Zeman .

The Embassy of the Czech Republic in London would like to express to Colonel Zbyšek Nečas-Pemberton´s family and friends its deep and sincere sympathy.

The last farewell and celebration of his extra-ordinary life will be held on 17 April 2018 at St Leonards Parish Church, Horringer, at 1pm.
