The war veteran Major General Ivan Otto Schwarz Ret. passed away

We regret to announce with deep sadness that on 4 January 2018 Major General  Ivan Otto Schwarz Ret. died in London at the age of 94.
 

Major General Schwarz served at the 311th Czechoslovak Bomber Squadron of the British Royal Air Force during WWII. He participated in the sinking of the German ship Alsterufer in the Bay of Biscay in December 1943. He was awarded many awards, including in June 2017, when the President of the Czech Republic, Miloš Zeman, awarded him the Medal for Bravery.

The Embassy of the Czech Republic in London would like to express to Major General Ivan Otto Schwarz ´s family and friends its sincere and deep sympathy.

The last farewell to the deceased takes place on Friday 2 February 2018 at 2pm at the Military Cemetary in Brookwood.
