Video: Panel debate "Jan Masaryk in London"

On Thursday, March 9, the Embassy of the Czech Republic in London commemorated the 75th anniversary of the death of Jan Masaryk with a panel debate on Masaryk's life and importance. The guests of the debate were experts from the UCL School of Slavonic and East European Studies Dr Jakub Beneš and Dr Thomas Lorman, and Mr Martin Josten, the son of Masaryk's press spokesman Josef Josten. You can watch the full debate in the video.

Jan Masaryk served as the head of the Czechoslovak Embassy in London continuously from 1925-1938 and, with 13 years in the office, remains our longest-serving Ambassador at this position. Masaryk continued to work in London as Minister of Foreign Affairs in Jan Šrámek's government-in-exile and organsied the BBC radio broadcast "Volá Londýn", with which he raised the morale of compatriots in occupied Czechoslovakia during the war.
