War veteran Anděla Haida Beníčková celebrated her 104th birthday

On 8 October 2017, the Czechoslovak WW2 veteran Mrs. Anděla Haida (born Beníčková) celebrated a remarkable life anniversary, 104 years.

The Czech Defence Attaché, Colonel Jiří Svatoš, visited Mrs. Haida in her house in north London on 9 October. Col. Svatoš, on behalf of the whole Embassy of the Czech Republic in the United Kingdom, sincerely congratulated her on this significant life jubilee and warmly wished her good health and all the best and handed her several gifts.

Mrs. Anděla Haida is the oldest living Czechoslovak war veteran. She worked during World War II as an auxiliary worker – a driver of the WAAF (Women's Auxiliary Air Force).

On 16 June 2017, the President of the Czech Republic, Miloš Zeman, awarded Mrs. Haida with the Medal for Heroism. More information is available in this article.
