The awarding ceremony took place at the Czech School of San Diego in Rancho Santa Fe, in the presence of Consul General and his wife, parents and of course school board. After the ceremony, Consul General read to all present children a short tale "The Fox and Cheese."

At the end of the visit the Consul General invited Czech School San Diego to participate next year also, as Director Nikola Kaminsky confirmed to do so.

International Art Competition Lidice has got a long tradition. This originally national competition became international one in 1973 and during its history had become well-known not only between children and teachers in the Czech Republic, but also around the world. In recent years, the exhibition receives submissions from more than 70 countries around the world, including as far afield as China, Japan, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Zimbabwe and of course the United States of America.  This is a unique exhibition that commemorates the child victims from the Czech village of Lidice exterminated by the Nazis and child victims of armed conflicts as such.
