Czech Superhero Comedy in Los Angeles

A Czech New Wave classic, Who Wants to Kill Jessie? (Kdo chce zabít Jessii?) is a slapstick fantasy about a scientist who invents a machine that enables a sleeping person's dreams to be viewed through a projector. Trouble ensues when she uses the device to watch her husband's dreams.

Directed by Václav Vorlíček, a master of Czech slapstick comedies, and starring Olga Schoberová, who later on became the first Czech to pose on a cover of Playboy, this is a uniquely Czech superhero movie - a pun of Superman and action-packed B-movies.

And note a great film poster made by a star of Czech comics Kája Saudek.

Four screenings in LA on Saturdays - Nov. 12, 19, 26 and Dec. 3
