Welcome Note from the New Czech Consul General

Dear Friends of the Czech Czech Republic,

I am very excited to introduce myself as the new Consul General for the Czech Republic of the West Coast. I arrived on November 2nd, 2015 to Los Angeles to begin my new position.

I have had many experiences in the Foreign Service, serving as Ambassador of the Czech Republic in Latvia, Pakistan and Luxembourg. I have been with the Ministry of the Czech Republic (then Czechoslovakia) since 1983. The 32 years of service has given me a rich and ample perspective of the diplomatic world. My educational background is mainly economics, obtaining an M.A. degree from the University of Economics in Bratislava and pursuing post-graduate studies for the diplomatic service at Pembroke College in Oxford.

Due to this background, I hope to focus more on business and economy, while still maintaining the current cultural exchange through continued programs during my time as the Consul General. The main part of our office activities will center on offering assistance to local companies and to their representatives who wish to invest/travel in the Czech Republic, as well as to promote Czech businesses in the local area. Cultural exchange programs, such as movie screenings and celebrations of Czech traditions, will continue to occur. For the news and updates of what the Consul General is working toward, please visit the website www.mzv.cz/losangeles.

I am very much looking forward to serving you and meeting many of you in the time to come!

Sincerely,

Pavol Šepeľák
Ambassador, Consul General
