Czech Republic: Relaxation of entry conditions for travelers from the USA

The Czech Republic currently lists the USA as a country with a low risk of COVID-19 transmission ("green country").

Effective June 21, 2021, travelers from the USA may enter the Czech Republic for any reason, provided they hold a valid passport issued by any country, and a visa if required. Our Visa Section currently accepts applications for all types of visas and residence permits, however, all of our visa customers must have a previous confirmed appointment.

For travelers from the USA to the Czech Republic on/after July 9, 2021[1] there are certain obligations related to the COVID-19 pandemic. This includes air travel from the USA to the Czech Republic with transfers, as long as passengers do not leave airport transit areas. All travelers aged 6 and older must:

  • prior to leaving the USA for the Czech Republic, notify their arrival by completing an online Public Health Passenger Locator Form. Accompanying adults complete the form for children aged 17 and younger.
  • take a Coronavirus (COVID-19) test, which can be:
    • an RT-PCR test, if taken at most 72 hours before departure from the first embarkation point in the USA -OR- at most on day 5 after entry into the Czech Republic, OR
    • an antigen test, if taken at most 48 hours before departure from the first embarkation point in the USA -OR- at most on day 5 after entry into the Czech Republic,
  • at airport check-in for their flight from the USA to the Czech Republic, as well as upon entry in the Czech Republic, submit the confirmation on completing the Locator Form (PDF, 118 KB).

Prior to the commencement of their travel from the USA to the Czech Republic, travelers must check with the operating airlines about their conditions for acceptance of passengers, as well as the respective countries' conditions for transit (COVID-19 test, face covering, etc.).

Anyone who crosses the Czech border during the pandemic agrees to be subject to a check for symptoms of an infectious disease and, if necessary, to taking of a biological sample for the purpose of testing for the presence of COVID-19. Anyone experiencing an onset of infectious disease upon entering the Czech Republic shall immediately contact any Czech provider of general medical care by phone/e-mail.

When planning to travel back into the USA after a stay in the Czech Republic, verify that your travel credentials make you admissible to re-enter.

A quick-reference entry guide for any country is available on the IATA website upon clicking on the map of the respective country.

For an in-depth list of conditions of entry into the Czech Republic, consult the website of the Czech Ministry of the Interior. Enquiries regarding entry into the Czech Republic shall be sent via e-mail to cestovani.covid19@mvcr.cz, an information hotline operated by the Czech Ministry of the Interior.

All Czech protective measures against the pandemic are published on a dedicated website of the Czech Ministry of Health. An information hotline on the COVID-19 pandemic and vaccination is available by dialing +420 226 201 221 (8 AM-7 PM Central European time).

[1] Different conditions of entry into the Czech Republic (including a possible entry ban) apply to travelers who have stayed outside the USA (and outside other "green countries") in the past 14 days prior to taking their trip to the Czech Republic.
