(This article expired 01.02.2022.)

A reception was held within the premises of the Czech Embassy in Lusaka on 26.10.2017 to mark the National Day of the Czech Republic - the day when Czechoslovakia was formed 28.10. 1918.

The guest of honour was Dora Siliya, Zambia’s Minister of Agriculture.

120 of the invited guests attended the function – including members of the diplomatic corps, representatives of Zambian government administration, business people and also Czech Republic citizens living in Zambia.

Ambassador Radek Rubes had a speech in which he explained the significance of the year 1918 in Czech history and also informed the guests that next year the Czech Republic together with the Slovak Republic will have a series of events to commemorate not only 100 years of statehood, but also other significant junctures in the history of Czechoslovakia.  He highlighted the significance of our membership in the European Union and expressed his wish that the just ended parliamentary elections could become the springboard for more positive developments in the Czech Republic.  The reception ended very well with guests generously served with drinks and food including some Czech dishes.
