Czech film at Cine Europa 2016

The 19th edition of the widest selection of European films in the Philippines, annual Cine Europa film festival is to be held in 11 places around the country from September to early December 2016.

The first leg of the festival starts at Shangri-la Plaza Mall, Mandaluyong City at September 8 and runs until September 18. Next venues will be: Baguio City (Cinematheque – Sept. 20-25), Iloilo City (Cinematheque – Sept. 27-Oct. 2), Cebu City (Ayala Center Cebu – Oct. 7-9), Zamboanga (Cinematheque – Oct. 12-16), Tacloban (University of the Philippines – Oct. 18-23), Davao (Cinematheque – Oct. 25-30), Baybay (Visayas State University, Nov. 8-13), Cagayan de Oro (Liceo de Cagayan University – Nov. 15-20), Puerto Princesa (Palawan State University and Robinsons Place – Nov. 22-27) and back to Manila (FDCP – Nov. 29-Dec. 4).

 

Czech entry this year is a dark film noir Normal: The Düsseldorf Ripper (also known as Angels Gone)-- a film adaptation of a 1991 play by Anthony Neilson. It is a fictional account of serial killer Peter Kürten's life, told from the point of view of his defense lawyer.


Starring Milan Kňažko, famous Slovak actor turned also Foreign and Culture Minister, and Dagmar Havlová, acclaimed Czech actress and wife of late Czech President Vaclav, Havel Dagmar Veškrnová.
