European Film Festival in Palau

Several European countries hosted the 3rd annual European Film Festival in Palau Micronesia last April 28 – May 1, 2011.

This year’s festival featured a varied selection of 8 European films from different genres.

Our very own Three Wishes for Cinderella, an adaptation of the classic fairy tale featuring a tougher Cinderella, was screened along with the following European films:

Lilli the Witch, the Dragon and the Magic Book (Austria), Long Weekend (Belgium), The Crocodiles (Germany), Good Morning (Italy), The Other Side of the Bed (Spain), Rascals on the Road (Switzerland), and Christmas Story (Finland).

The Festival was organized under the patronage of the Department of Foreign Affairs and the Department of Culture of the Republic of Palau. President H.E. Johnson Toribiong and the Secretary of Culture Ms. Tina Rechucher were present during the official opening of the Festival like in previous years.

Now on its 3rd year, the Film Fest has always had full attendance, reaching an average of 100 viewers per film. Thanks partly to extensive media coverage, European films in Palau are always much-awaited and well-received.
