More PH speculative fiction published in Czech translation

Czechs enjoy Philippine speculative fiction as an anthology of South East Asian steampunk stories entitled “The SEA Is Ours” (edited by Joyce Ching and Jaymee Goh saw its Czech edition in May 2016 under the title „Krocení sopek“.

Not only is the Czech edition the very first translation of this important book, but it is also the debut of five Filipino writers in the Czech Republic: Kate Osias (The Unmaking of Cuadro Amoroso); Timothy James Dimacali (On the Consequence of Sound); Paolo Chikiamco (Between Severed Souls); Alessa Hinlo (The Last Aswang), and Marilag Angway, whose story Chasing the Volcano gave the Czech edition its title „Krocení sopek“.

And perhaps there will be more PH speculative fiction published, as Jan Kravčík, translator and founding-father of Gorgona publishing house, also mentioned that while translating the book he has discovered the whole new world - fascinating and captivating world of Philippine mythology and he is sure this is not his last encounter with Philippine fantastic literature.

Last but not least, the anthology has also a 30-page text on history of science fiction in SE Asia written by Jaroslav Olša, jr., Czech Ambassador to the Philippines introducing to Czech public many Philippine writers, such as Dean Francis Alfar, Eliza Victoria, Victor Fernando R. Ocampo and others.
