Musica FEURopa 4

The 4th Far Eastern University/European Union Choral Competition in the Philippines was held last May 1 & 2 at home at the Far Eastern University (FEU) auditorium.

Since its inception under the Czech Republic’s Presidency of the Council of the European Union in 2009, Musica FEUropa remains to be the lone European Union supported choral competition in the Philippines. Steadily growing in size and prestige, this year’s competition had the highest number of participants yet, matched with an elite list of judges.

Originally conceived as a competition for college choirs, the Musica FEUropa now features two categories. Winners in the Highschool category were: UPLB Rural HS Choir (3rd place), Himig Rosena of Colegio de Santa Rosa Makati (2nd place), and Boschorale of Don Bosco Makati (1st place).

For the open category, the top 3 distinctions went to: Holy Angel University Chorale (3rd place), TIP Chorale Society (2nd place), and to the University of the Visayas Chorale (1st place).

The choral competition is part of the Viva Europa 2012 European Union cultural showcase which aims to promote the shared cultural heritage of the EU with the Philippines as well as feature the musical talents of Filipino and European composers.

Musica FEUropa is an annual event supported by Far Eastern University’s President's Committee on Culture (PCC), the Delegation of the European Union in the Philippines, and the various European Embassies in Manila with DZFE 98.7FM as official media partner.
